I know Plan C, F and F-HD Medicare supplement will no longer be for sale as of January 1, 2020. And if you are in then you can keep the plain. The question is on the new G-HD Medicare supplement how will they price this new plan?

thanks
Michael

The insurance companies will need to use the claims history for F-HD when establishing G-HD rates so I expect rates to be similar.

For attained-age plans, claims history will show a 67 yr old F-HD enrollee typically submits 'X' number of claims with $Y payments. At this time, there is no reason to expect the typical 67 yr old G-HD enrollee to be sicker or healthier. Same for other ages and issue-age plans.

In a couple of states (NY and CT) the plans must be community-rated so I expect G-HD rates to be slightly lower since their "community" of enrollees will initially trend younger and healthier.

This is good to know. I am in good health so I will sing up with F-hd for now and look at G-hd in 2020 thanks.

Hi Michael,
There really is no reason to wait to elect your g supplement. If you become unhealthy anytime before 2020 it will be hard for you to enroll in a supplement. There is no plan G high deductible plan also. If you have further questions just reach out to me.

I will turn 65 in September and I have signed up with F-HD Medicare supplement. At this time this supplement will be best for me. Come 2020 F-HD will no longer be available for new Medicare enrollees and the coverage cost overtime will increase because it will be a closed plan as you know.

Plan G High Deductible plan will take the place of F-HD come 2020 and as long as my health will qualify I will sign on to that plan then.

You can check with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners for updates.

I understand what you are saying. I hope you signed up with a good company there are some out there that just don't have the best reputation. There is also another medicare supplement called plan N its 100% coverage as well with a few stipulations. Check it out in your medicare and you handbook on medicare.gov. It may be a little more affordable to you. I know some rates in some states are outrageous for medicare supplemental plans.
