Anyone have any opinions on AARP MEDICARE RX SAVER PLUS plan . It is the cheapest premium I have seen .As it stands now with the drugs I take , I will never even get close to my deductable ,but what if that were to change someday ? Actually it seems like I would be paying a premium on something I will never have to use , unless something drastic happened to my health , but if I don`t get something I will pay a penalty later if I were to need a plan . I am so confused on this .

Hey,

Your best bet is to go to medicare.gov and enter your drugs there if you have not done so already. I created a YouTube video on How To Find The Best Medicare Part D Plan For Your Drugs In Under 3 Minutes! which shows you how to do it. It will show you the cheapest drug plan based on premium, deductibles, copays, and coverage gap for the year. I recommend that you do sign up for one even if you don't need it now in order to avoid the penalty. The other option would be to join a Medicare Advantage plan which would give you drug coverage built in!

Like Matt said go to http://www.medicare.gov and use their plan finder. Don't worry about "what if it changes" because once a year during open enrollment you have the chance to change to a different plan. It is easy to change, can be done on line in a few minutes, and there are no penalties to change.

Just input the drugs you currently use and the plan finder will show you the different plans for your state and the prices of the plan and how much you will pay for your drugs. Pay particular attention to the "tiers" that your drugs are in and if there are any limits on the drugs you are taking.

Good luck!

I'm looking into this one, but I see it will cost $180.00 in premiums for a year, factor in the $325.00 deductible and you come up with $505.00 before it even pays for prescriptions.

So if we go with the more expensive one from AARP United Health Care the preferred one, the premiums are $513.60 a year, but it pays right away, because of no deductible.

It's a lose lose situation as far as I can see, but it only makes sense (right now to me) to go with the more expensive plan. Give me a few more days and I am sure I'll change my mind again.

I'm only 61 right now, but my husband is turning 65 in December, so we are wading through all the medicare stuff now. Right now the H pays about $24.00 a month for his scripts, we'd be better of without the Plan D insurance, but I am tooo scared to do that! ARG...
