[/size]Is there any provision in the Medicare statute or regs that establishes a deadline by which Medicare must pay a covered medical expense once the bill is properly submitted for payment?
Medicare processes most claims within 30 days of receipt; however, it may take longer when additional information is needed. To check the status of a claim, contact Medicare customer service at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). Your Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs) are mailed on a quarterly basis (every 90 days). If you do not receive your MSNs, contact 1-800-MEDICARE.
