Employer Uncooperative

Hi! I’ve been on disability since February 2007 and was eligible for Medicare in February 2009. I have had Part A but declined Part B because my spouse had great insurance through his employer.

My spouse is retiring in April 2018. I began the paperwork to add Part B. I have to send in the Request for Employment Information along with my Part B application. The problem is that, even though my spouse has been employed with the same company since 1993, HR has informed him that their insurance records do NOT go back beyond 2012 and they therefore literally put that I had had coverage since 2012!

This is potentially financially devastating to us. This is a HUGE company of over 100,000 employees! HR us insistent with my husband that there is nothing they can do!

I’m wondering what my options might be. Any suggestions? THANKS!
