At the end of the day, I don't think anything beats counting calories. I know that it's not the most popular, but once you get in the habit, it works every time. There's nothing quite like that first time you actually add up the number of calories from a meal, and realize that you just ate a whole day's worth - which is VERY easy to do if you're dining out!
