Medicare Advantage PPO Plans are offered by private insurance companies. PPO stands for "preferred provider organization", which means the insurance company has a network of doctors and hospitals that you must use. You can go outside the network but it will cost you more.
Medicare pays a set amount each month to the insurance company to cover your health care needs. The insurance company provides all the coverage that Medicare Plan A and Plan B provides and sometimes more. Also many Medicare Advantage Plans that use PPO's also include prescription drug coverage.
Usually each plan will have a "service area" which it covers and it's network of doctors and hospitals are limited to that service area. So if you spend a lot of time outside of your home area a Medicare Advantage plan might not be right for you.
