Medicare and the new Health Care Law

Existing Medicare benefits are guaranteed by the new health care law that was passed recently (The Affordable Care Act).

Other changes are:

• Prescription Drugs that are more affordable and a provision to close the "doughnut hole" by 2020.

• 
  Free annual checkups and some tests.

• 
  Gives bonuses to Medicare Advantage insurance plans when they improve quality, but reduces their standard payment.

• 
  Limits out of pocket cost to Medicare Advantage plans members.

• 
  And most importantly, guarantees that Medicare will remain financially solvent.
