Medicare Fund to be Depleted in 2024

Now they are saying that the Medicare Trust Fund will be depleted in 2024, which is 5 years sooner than they said last year! In addition they say that Social Security reserves will be depleted in 2036, which is 1 year sooner than earlier stated. The economy has had something to do with it since taxes collected are lower for both programs.

There is still time to "fix" both programs if something is done soon. Just don't completely dismantle them as we have come to know them and start over. The program didn't "break" in the last year or two, it took many years. So let's don't expect to fix it with one drastic action, but instead institute smaller measures to get rid of what's wrong with the current programs, while keeping what is right.

Well I agree there is still enough time to fix it, but with government being as slow as it is you never know. I agree that attacking the high cost of health care is the first step in solving the problem. Wish I could tell you how to do that, I will leave that to those smarter than me.

How bout making Medicare simple this go round? Instead of all the parts, just make it one part and make it simple? Guess that's just me, always looking to simplify things. But it would be nice if it was simple and easy to understand.
