Medicare Part B covers several diabetes related services, specifically diabetes screenings, diabetes self management training, and diabetes supplies. Let's take a brief look at them:

Diabetes Screenings - Are covered by Medicare if you have any risk factors as follows: high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels, obesity, or high blood sugar. In addition, if you have a family history of diabetes your screening tests could be covered. Depending on your test results you could be eligible for up to two screenings per year.

Diabetes Self‑Management Training - Is covered if you have diabetes and a written doctor's order that you need it.

Diabetes Supplies - Covered are blood sugar testing monitors, blood sugar test strips, lancet devices and lancets, blood sugar control solutions, and therapeutic shoes (in some cases). Insulin is covered only if used with an external insulin pump.

Insulin and certain medical supplies used to inject insulin, such as syringes, and some oral diabetic drugs may be covered by Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D).
