Just received my first Medicare Part B premium. It is not a 1 month $134.00 bill but a quarterly amount of $536.00. How can I change the billing cycle to 1 month at a time?

The most common method is to sign up for Medicare Easy Pay, a free service that automatically deducts your premium payments from your savings or checking account each month. The premium is deducted from your bank account, usually on the 20th of the month.

Here is a less common method: "These bills are due quarterly in advance. But if you prefer not to pay three months’ premiums at a time, you can call the Medicare help line at 800-633-4227 (or TTY 877-486-2048) to request an arrangement to pay monthly."

I'm having same problem. Started Medicare as of Dec 1, 2016. I received a bill for December plus January thru April for a whopping 657.80! Just getting December bill now (Jan 9). I'm sending in Dec and Jan payments plus enrollment papers in Easy Pay. We will see what happens. You can get the Easy Pay form on line. It is called Authorization Agreement for Preauthorized Payments form (SF-5510). I got it from either mymedicare.gov or social security website. Google it. Good luck.

The reason for this is because at the moment you are not collecting social security payments. Once you start collecting social security you will have the option to have your Part B premiums withdrawn monthly.
