Medicare Physical Exams

Two types of physical exams are now covered by Medicare Part B:

1. Welcome to Medicare physical exam — This is a one time physical exam and you must get it within the first 12 months after you get Part B.

2. Year Wellness exam - After you have been in Part B for longer than 1 year you can get a yearly physical exam.

If you ask for a physical exam, it will not be charged out as the wellness visit and, thus, you will be charged for something traditional Medicare does not cover.

And just because you ask for a wellness exam doesn't mean there won't be some other charges added in their either. Don't expect a no charge office visit.
