G'day

I have a question, I have private insurance as primary and medicare A and B secondary. I recently had a hospital visit and the hospital is billing me for my full deductible on my primary insurance, even after medicare made its allowable payments. can they still collect the deductible amount from my primary?

The Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) should have a field called "Amount you may be billed." This is the maximum you owe. Since Medicare is a federal program, their federal regulations take priority in determining how much you may be billed. It is a complicated calculation but is generally based on the amount Medicare approved and paid and the amount paid by the primary plan.
