I was shocked to read that most Seniors do not take advantage of the free Welcome to Medicare exam that has been a part of Medicare since 2005!.
According to an article by the AMA about 97% of those eligible for the exam do not get it.
I would think that the emphasis on preventative medicine would be welcome by most seniors and they would take advantage of it. Perhaps they aren't aware of it? Heck it is better to keep illness away than to deal with it once it taken hold of you.

Policymakers hope the initial "Welcome to Medicare" visit will help physicians get new and returning beneficiaries hooked on preventive care, but most doctors aren't taking the bait.
