i have medicare a and b and i also have tricare for life. i see on tv now all the hubla about all the so called plans now open to get on. so can anyone tell me if they have tricare for life and another kind of plan to help with the extra costs for vision dental and hearing?

it seems so far that i have not had to pay for anything when i go to the dr. and my scripts but i would like to get some dental, vision and hearing coverage. so when got to these sites i see on tv like humana, priority and such i see so many different plans that i'm overwhelmed.

i see for instance 0$ premium and then 0$ copay and then i see anywhere from 3,000 to 6,000 deductibles. so that seems to negate any savings for having the plans. outside of a major health issue is there actually any advantage to having one of these plans when i have tricare for life.

so does anyone have tricare for life and another plan and is it really worth it.

The $0 premium plans are called Medicare Advantage plans. They have provider networks. If you enroll in an Advantage plan, you give up the flexibility to see any medical provider that accepts original Medicare. Personally, I would avoid the Advantage plans if I had TFL. The extra perks are not worth giving up provider choice.

What about Medicare Advantage for People on Tricare?

Many Medicare beneficiaries with Tricare express interest in Medicare Advantage plans. This is often because some plans offer “extra” benefits such as coverage for chiropractic, dental, hearing and vision or free gym memberships.

Since TFL already includes drug coverage, you can enroll in an MA-only plan (without drug coverage).

You need to think carefully on this because if you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, you are then limited to using the Medicare Advantage plan’s network of doctors which will be considerably smaller than what you would have with Original Medicare and Tricare.
