If you are a single person has an income in 2010 of less than $16,335 and resources less than $12,640 you may qualify for Extra Help, also called the low income subsidy. If you are a married person the income must be less than $22,065 and resources less than $25,260. These amounts are subject to change each year.

Resources do not include your home, car, household items, or life insurance policies. Resources considered are money in bank accounts, and stocks and bonds.

Extra Help includes help paying for your drug plan's premiums, deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments. In addition there is no coverage gap (doughnut hole) and no late enrollment penalty.
