Signing up for Wellcare

I called Wellcare today to sign up for their presecription drug program and found out you can not actually sign up until you have your Medicare card in hand. Even though I have applied for Medicare and have the confirmation number I could not sign up. However they said they could provide coverage the next day after I enrolled so I am not worried about it.

Just thought I would point that out in case anyone is waiting to sign up for Medicare at the last minute, Medicare takes a LONG TIME to get:@

Update: Seems like this is true of AARP Supplement plans also, so I would guess that it is true for all Medicare supplement plans and prescription drug plans. Why does it take Medicare so long to approve someone? Guess it's a government thing.

Since I received my Medicare card a couple of days ago I have completed the online application for the Wellcare Signature presecription drug program. I used the plan finder at the Medicare site and put my meds in it and overall Wellcare seemed like the best program for me. It was one of the highest rated as well as affordable. :)

The signup process went very smooth and their website was easy to use. I will report back on how long it takes to get my card, as well as how good the service is once I actually start using it.

I called Wellcare today to check on the status of my application for their Part D Medicare Prescription drug program. I applied online on 5/30/11. I was informed I have already been approved and the rep. gave me my member ID as well as other needed info. She said my card was on the way to me in the mail. Pretty smooth sailing with Wellcare so far. Every time I have called Wellcare customer service the people have been friendly and helpful.

I will report back my experiences with Wellcare after I actually have to use the program.

The first little glitch with Wellcare today. I tried to register on their site to "manage" my new Wellcare account but their form wouldn't take my Wellcare ID number. I emailed them and was told I needed to call and talk to web services about the problem. I will do that and report back.
