january 10, 1954 is the birthdate on my birth certificate. My birth certificate was used for my current passport. My tax returns reflect 1954.
October 10, 2018 opens my window for Medicare. I go online and the government website cannot match my information. I am currently overseas till mid December. I call SoSoc and after a 60 minute hold time I am told that the problem is the data base is showing 1953.
I bring up my passport and tax fillings that THOSE are different agencies and don't share data. I am told that I will need to go to a SoSecrity office with birth certificate to resolve the issue. I asked if I could go to the USA embassy where I am overseas. I was advised it would take to Long and create confusion. Call your local office and schedule an appointment mid December.
I check the local office number and it is the same national 800 number with a 50 min wait.. A much more local area code number goes unanswered and that fact is reconfirmed on many postings.
At this point it looks like unless I walk cold into my Florida office this is not going to happen. I was also told that until that year changes from 1953 to 1954 I will be considered a late enrolled and will be penalised.
All this also explains why my log in sign up attempts have failed. My thought was to go back to the website and enter the incorrect information. Once I can access to my information I can maybe attempt to coomunicate the error in my information.
I have had ACA health plans for the last 3 years and all with my true birthdate of 1954. My current plan ends December 31, 2018
I explained this to Social Security and asked if I should enroll again with ACA. At least I would have coverage while this all works out. That would give the government till April to update my record.
Mom. Is no longer with us to ask if this is a milkman story. Every record I have says 1954. Now the government is making it worse.
November and December is the worst time to have a problem.
Any ideas?
