Trying to choose a supplemental plan recognized in both Florida and New Hampshire. Here are the NH companies. Are any recognized in Florida without having to reapply at a higher age in the future if we move to Florida?

Genworth Life and Annuity Insurance Company
Gerber Life Insurance Company

Hi,

Welcome and thanks for posting!

You will most likely need to zero in on a couple of companies that you are most interested in for your current location then contact them and ask them.

I am thinking (but don't know for sure) that most of the national companies will allow you to transfer without penalty. You will have to pay the rate charged in that state but won't be penalized for not originally applying there. In other words you will pay the rate for the new state as if you had originally signed up there.

Again, that is my thinking, don't quote me on that, check with the company. Make sure it is a company that serves both areas.

Thank you for your info!

Hello,

Your only requirement is to sign up with a supplement available in your home state. If you move, you do not have to re-apply; however, as Mack said you will likely be charged a different rate based on the rates charged in the new state. So, ask for rates for both NH and FL and then make your decision. Welcome to Medicare!
