Surgery, And Night Before Admittance ?

Hello,
First Post. Looks like a really great site.
Have the "standard" Medicare coverages.
Parts A and B, I guess.

Question:

I will be having surgery in late January.
Surgeon/Hospital says to show up at 6 AM !

Will be very hard to find a ride, or taxi, to get me there at that hour.

I inquired about them "Admitting" me the night before ?
That way I could get a decent night sleep, and then they could do the preps, etc.
early the following morning.

Sec'y says not possible, due to Medicare rules, coverages, etc.

What Medicare has for rules, etc. is beyond my IQ.

Might anyone, please, explain to me if there is likely any way to be Admitted the night before, possibly, Medicare on this "problem," etc.

Much thanks, appreciate the help,
Bob (Happy Holidays)

I'm sorry but Medicare only pays for "medically necessary" services so they will not pay for the additional night since no medical services will be required.

You can call the taxi service ahead of time and let them know your situation so they will have a person on call to pick you up early. If you live in a large city and have access to a smartphone, you could also try "Uber" or one of the other ride sharing services.

Happy Holidays!
