Everyone is entitled to a "Welcome to Medicare" preventive visit to their doctor during their 12 months they are enrolled in Medicare. It is completely free there are no copayments or deductibles.
The purpose of this visit is to help you and your doctor plan for your care. The doctor will review and evaluate your medical history, family history, and your health, as well as what prescription drugs you are taking. In addition the doctor will check your vision, blood pressure and height and weight.
Your doctor will also talk to you about prevention and screenings and vaccinations. Depending on your needs they may order tests and further screenings.
In a nutshell the doctor should provide you with a roadmap for your healthcare that will help you get the preventive services and screenings that you need to stay healhy.
