Got some Medicare planning questions, hoping someone with general experience can assist:
When I start Social Security at 62, am I automatically enrolled in Part A and B at the same time?
Do I delay part B because I carry HMSA in retirement?
Once I hit age 65, do I continue HMSA or enroll in part B if delayed at age 62? Basically stuck on what action I need to take at age 62 or 65.
Once dependent has aged out beyond 26 I intend on enrolling in TRICARE Select. Good plan? Appreciate any and all input
Thanks
- Age 60, spouse 55.
- Retired Federal worker (FERS) with 35 years.
- Carried PPO HMSA (Residence is on Ohau) family plan into retirement...premiums remain same as when employed
- One dependent under 26 thus reason for continued HMSA medical
- Enrolled in FED Vision and Dental
- Retired Reserves, did not enroll in TRICARE Select due to having dependent under 26. TRICARE does not provide coverage beyond age 21
- I have 40 calendar quarters, paid medicare taxes
- Intention is to draw Social Security at age 62.
