Technical correction: There is a sub-group of Medigap plans called Medicare SELECT plans that use a network of hospitals for non-emergency admissions.

This option helps you save on premiums when you agree to use one of the hospitals in our Medicare Select Network for non-emergency elective admissions. If you do not use one of these hospitals for your non-emergency admissions, you agree to pay the Part A deductible.

In exchange for a lower monthly premium, you agree to use one of our hospital partners when you need inpatient health care services. As long as you use a participating hospital, the Medicare Part A deductible is covered. And you can still visit the same doctor.

Great question Guy. Just an FYI, Medicare Supplement plans are regulated by the Federal Government. Every alphabet letter plan is exactly the same with the only difference being price and company you choose. There can be as much as a $200/month difference in price between one companies Plan F and another Companies. There is absolutely no difference in what the company pays. So shop the market, there is usually 6-20 plans in most states and you want the best price. Just remember if you are past 65 and have been on Medicare for a bit, there might be medical underwriting questions which exclude you from coverage. Medicare Supplements/Medigap pays every penny that Medicare does not as long as its a Plan F. It will not cover procedures that Medicare does not approve.
