If you are an older adult living alone you might have a tendency to skip preparing meals, or rely on fast food, or otherwise eat more unhealthy than if you would if you were not alone.

This is a good article about how someone living alone can easily prepare healthy meals when cooking for one.

I think this is a temptation for anyone living alone, it just tends to have quicker adverse effects for those in their later years. When you're in your twenties or thirties, you can get away with this stuff. But I've found that having access to a gas grill, for me, helps tremendously. Throwing a piece of chicken on the grill for a few minutes beats a bag of McDonald's any day.

It can be a challenge planning meals for one. Personally, I prefer to stick with mostly frozen foods, as I find I can control my calories better. It's not quite the same as preparing things fresh, but it's a nice balance between time and convenience. The Green Giant steamer vegetable bags are great, and there's lots of options to dress them up.
