jbander,

The first help you may be eligible to receive is called LIS or Extra Help for Prescription Drugs. This program is available through Social Security, and you qualify based on your income and assets. You should apply even if you don't currently need the help. Other help usually comes through the state in the form of help for paying your Part B premium. There is no program that helps you pay for your Medicare supplement, but the state assistance could end up acting like a supplement in the form of state assistance; sometimes called Medicaid. The state could end up paying for some or all of what Medicare doesn't pay. If you don't qualify for the state assistance, another alternative for you may be joining a Medicare Advantage plan.
