Medicare Advantage Plans and Gym Membership

Did you know that some Medicare Advantage plans pay for gym membership for their enrollees? They do and it is a winning situation for the insurance companies as well as the Seniors enrolled in their plan. The reason is that healthy adults tend to be sick less often, so taking advantage of gym membership will go far toward keeping them healthy.

The gym memberships are offered through a national program called Silver Sneakers. Most MA plans include it, and it's not hard to find a gym that accepts it!
 
There are also several Med Supp Plans that offer Silver Sneakers. As we all know, these plans are standardized. This is a nice extra benefit that might sway a member to a Med Sup that offers this enticing benefit.

Good point Allen, although the only one I'm aware of in Florida was the AARP Med sup. I believe they discontinued the SilverSneakers in 2012.
