Medicare mistake sends confidential info to wrong people

A screw up by a Medicare contractor has caused about 15,500 Medicare pieces of mail to go to the wrong Medicare recipient in several southern states recently.

Information sent was detailed medical procedures that Medicare had covered for the other person as well as the last four numbers of the other person's social security number.

Yikes, someone needs to be more careful!

I don't like seeing these kinds of mistakes what with identity theft and all that going on. A person could take someone's medical records and destroy someone. I know most people are honest but it only takes a few bad apples out of the 15,000 to really screw things up for some folks.
