Part B Coverage Pre-diabetic

Just had a doctor visit and was deemed pre-diabetic.. Doctor stated medicare would not cover testing strips and related equipment. His claim seems contrary to what I am reading. Can someone confirm that Part B does, in fact, cover testing equipment?

Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers some diabetes supplies, including:

Blood sugar (glucose) test strips
Blood sugar testing monitors
Insulin
Lancet devices and lancets
Glucose control solutions
Therapeutic shoes or inserts

Thank you for reply. I haven't talked to Medicare specifically but my secondary insurer thought the fact that I was pre-diabetic may be an issue. I asked my MD to submit request anyway for a definitive answer.

At face value, it woull seem like I have coverage.

Just got off phone with Medicare. The stated pre-diabetic condition is covered. Not sure what MD was thinking but I will await outcome of Medicare review before I get to excited..

Unfortunately I see this a lot from doctors that don't understand how insurance works. Give advice which can be inaccurate. Glad you were able to verify that it would be covered.
