Protein drinks after exercise

This is an interesting article about the effects of drinking protein drinks after exercise versus drinking carbohydrate drinks. They did a study and it showed that protein drinks after aerobic exercise increased the training effect after six weeks, as compared to drinking carbohydrate drinks.

Also I thought it was interesting that one researcher who took part in the study said "It is not a mystery that exercise and nutrition help slow the aging process". It is not a mystery to me but I just posted a couple of days ago about an article which stated that there was no evidence that exercise increases lifespan, which I didn't agree with and neither did other posters. My post from a couple of days ago is here:

The article about the benefits of protein drinks after exercise is here:

I'd like to add that from my own experience eating or drinking protein enriched supplements has helped reduce the feelings of muscle cramping and aching after exercise. I do it religiously now.

I've also heard that drinking protein at the very beginning of your day actually jump starts your metabolism. This can give you a boost of calorie-killing power in the morning before you ever even step into a gym!

I heard that as well, John. Something like 35-45 grams of protein first thing in the morning increasing your weight losing capacity for that day by 20%. The more eggs in the morning the better, I guess!

Wow - I'm going to have to try that! I count my calories, so anything I can find to help burn them off is great. Do you have a favorite brand?
