A preacher and, his wife and an employee are found guilty of healthcare fraud involving more than $14 million in phony claims. They were writing phony prescriptions for power chairs and billed Medicare $6,000 for each chair.
I know this isn't the same people we see on TV all the time but I have always wondered how the power chair makers could spend millions upon millions advertising them and stating "it may not cost you a cent, Medicare will pay for it". Now I see the problem. Medicare is paying way too much for these chairs, and for way too many of these power chairs, else they wouldn't be able to afford the million dollar ad campaigns.
Medicare wasn't meant to be a money factory for providers of power chairs!
