Hello,
I migrated to Georgia US at late age and have worked here for seven years accumulating approximately 28 credits.
I turned 65 last month and went to the SS office to check if I qualified for the benefits but I was denied since I do not have enough SS credits to qualify (28/40). In addition I also have some cash in bank due to a house sale back home which will be used to purchase a property here in US.
I am attempting to find employment but have not had any luck so far...I was told I need a little more than two more years of work to be eligible.... do I have any other options to qualify now besides keep on looking for work?
Also what is the approximate cash amount threshold which makes ones ineligible?, should I consider purchasing a property now and then reapply with a lower balance?
